I Know What It's Like to Lose Control of Your Body
During medical school, I gained significant weight - especially around my belly.
The stress was constant. I ate whatever was quick and convenient - mostly junk food grabbed between classes and shifts. There was no time for exercise, no time to cook healthy meals, no time to take care of myself.
I looked in the mirror and didn't recognize my body. I tried to "just eat less" and "move more" but nothing worked. I felt like I was failing at something everyone else seemed to handle easily.
It took me YEARS to figure out how to get control of my weight back. And even now, as a physician specializing in obesity medicine, I still have to work at it.
That's why I'll never judge you for struggling with weight after 40.
I know what it's like when:
- Stress makes you reach for comfort food
- You have no time to exercise
- Your body doesn't respond the way it used to
- Nothing seems to work no matter how hard you try
- You feel shame for "failing" at something that should be simple
The difference now is that I understand the SCIENCE behind why this happens - especially after menopause when your hormones shift and your metabolism changes.
I won't tell you to "just try harder." I know you have been.
I won't make you feel judged for past "failures." I've been there.
And I won't give up on you if something doesn't work perfectly - because it took ME years of trial and error to figure this out.
Let's figure out YOUR path to getting control back.
